Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Zeda Gordi?
The best area to stay in Zeda Gordi is within the immediate vicinity of the Okatse Canyon visitor centre, as this provides the most convenient access to the region's main attractions.

This area is primarily known for its natural beauty and outdoor activities. Accommodation here typically consists of guesthouses and a few small hotels, often family-run, offering a more personal experience. The main draw is the walking trail to the Okatse Canyon viewpoint, which starts directly from the visitor centre.

For couples looking for an active holiday, staying near the visitor centre is ideal. You'll be right on the doorstep of the Okatse Canyon, allowing for early morning walks before the crowds arrive. It's also a good base for exploring other nearby natural sights like the Kinchkha Waterfall, which is just a short drive away.

Families will also find this area suitable. Many guesthouses offer spacious rooms or even small cottages, and the rural setting provides plenty of open space for children.
When is the best time to go to Zeda Gordi?
The best time to go to Zeda Gordi is during the late spring or early autumn months, specifically May, June, September, and early October. These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the region.

Visitors looking for comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities will find May and June ideal. The weather is generally warm and sunny, great for hiking through the surrounding countryside or visiting local vineyards. You'll also see the landscape in full bloom, which is quite lovely.

For those who enjoy cooler, crisp weather and the beauty of autumn colours, September and early October are excellent choices. The grape harvest season is often underway, offering a unique opportunity to experience local traditions and taste fresh produce.
